Tim Wendel
teaches fiction and non-fiction writing at Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of a number of baseball books,
including Castro's Curveball (Bison Books, 2000) and The New Face of Baseball: The One Hundred Year Rise
and Triumph of Latinos in America's Favorite Sport (Harper-Collins, 2004), which received the Latino Literary Award for
Best History Book. His new book, High Heat: The Secret History of the Fastball and the Improbable Search for
the Fastest Pitcher of All Time will be published next spring by DeCapo Press. He also has authored
numerous articles in USA Today Baseball Weekly, The Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine and
the New York Times.
* Dress: Please dress
appropriately. Some will wear coat and tie; some will
wear
dressy-casual. Please, no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, etc.
Registration materials for the
banquet were mailed on October 12.
RSVP and
pre-payment is REQUIRED by October 29, 2009. No exceptions! Payment at the door will not be allowed;
no one will be admitted to hear the speaker unless they have paid for the dinner. Space is limited, so make your reservations
as soon as possible.

wish to stay overnight, Mil has negotiated a special room rate of $79 per night. YOU are responsible for making your
reservations with the Holiday Inn.
