The Baseball Index
is a bibliographic research tool that provides citations to previously published materials covering thousands of baseball
topics. Enter a search topic (i.e., "grand slams" "Earl Mann" "Yankee Stadium") and the Index will give you a list of
citations for books and articles on that topic. (Note: It does not contain text images of those articles.
You'll have to track those down yourself.) The Baseball Index should be the first stop in your research
efforts. Think of the Baseball Index as baseball's Readers Guide to Periodical Literature. TBI is a product of the efforts of numerous members of SABR's Bibliography Committee.
A fantastic site. A great
source of play-by-play data for games going back decades, and daily results/team records going back even farther.
Data is downloadable and free of charge.
Rickwood Field is America's
oldest ballpark. It is still used today for a variety of high school and college ball games. It also is the host
to the annual Rickwood Classic which honors a team/period in Birmingham Barons' history with a game between Birmingham and
a Southern League opponent. Both teams dress in period uniforms.
