Good news... My Boss might be trying to steal me away from the DMF and move me to corporate support full time. And it looks like it's going to be sooner than I expected. They other guy helping the Desktop Support has started back at school and can only provide 15 hours a week. One and a half people support 250 in house and 150 remote users will just not do. Plus the guy was already part-time and he just changed his major from Computer Science to something general... Boss was supposed to talk to CIO about it this week and Boss called late today to say he's taking me the DMF and the other guy in our Theatre Equipment support to lunch on Monday so I have a feeling that's when he's gonna break the news. Either that or we're in trouble for something??? I hate to jump ship though. I'd rather it be a transition instead of a complete move cause it's going to be hell in a hand basket for all of theatre support the next 6 months starting in september. We're doing what they call a Blitz which is going to be a Big fucking computer upgrade for all theatres. The Field techs schedule is going to be 9 weeks on and 5 weeks off traveling to all 550 theatres with only 7 techs? The person organizing the project hasn't done a good job at all in my opinion. He had the tech come in for only a week to discus and plan the project and as far as I'm concerned they didn't get much accomplished. None of the Techs or the project leader have worked much with windows 2000 from what I gather and they are going to have just huge problems I fear and then the finger pointing will begin. Yeuch. The IT Dept has about 30 people now and I think there are only about 7-10 real computer people and even some of them are just faking it. I don't have as much practical experience but I know what the fuck I'm talking about when it comes to Win 2K and nobody seems to want to listen so there going to find out the hard way. Fuckers!

Finally... Got my corporate card... So... The Best Friend Contest is on!! Went to go see Road to Perdition... Good Movie!! Fairly predictable but good anyway. Basically a story of Revenge/Redemption for one and a story of following in the same footsteps or not for another. If you've ever seen The Shootist with John Wayne and Ron Howard it's much like that but with differrent time and place. All around good just the same I thought.

Good news to report... All next week I'll be helping corporate side support and starting the following week I'll be doing corporate support on Tuesday's and Thursday's while the other corp support side helper is going to school! More responsiblity and less DMF!!! My boss got the impression I was bored from my performance review.... I didn't intend for it read like that but I guess it did. Not too much else going on. Sundown in the city is fairly hippie free this week, they had a couple Jazz bands that were pretty darn good. Almost football time in Tennessee!!! Can anybody get me tickets? No way I can afford them this year.... Lowest I've seen is a Grand for a single season ticket which is what I usually find. I've been lucky every year and have either found a pair or a single season ticket for about $400-500(lower level!) but that's not gonna happen this year with both florida and Miami this year. I changed hosting services and software for my side project and I like it so much better... mainly cause it works! Check it out and let people know about it please! www.volauctions.com .
