phew... just about two months have past sinc my last blog. I just don't have much time anymore, sorry. On to blogging. I saw Hellboy the other weekend and I gotta say it was ok but it just didn't jump out at you. I didn't think the storyline was all that great. The one thing I hate about these comic book movies is they always feel the need to start the story from scratch. Meaning, develop the character in the first film and hope it's a hit to have a second film. Why can't they just jump into a comic book character in the middle of his Hero career? I thougth X-men did a good job in that it gave just small snippets on how the characters came to be who they are and then right into the action and story and of course Batman was just incredible! Hellboy did this too but the pieces of information were either too long or not interesting enough to add value to the film. Patiently waiting the rest of the summer films!
On to last night!! Prince was awesome. Really well done performance. Troy has a great review on his site. I have to say I left the building being a bigger fan of prince than I thought I was. I'm a pretty big music fan but I rarely remember who sings what and on a few songs I was like "OH YEAH! I forgot about this one, I love this one!" Even though I was not tap, tap, taping my feet I did enjoy the show greatly. Work has been bustin my ass lately. Just ongoing large projects along with the day to day is getting rough. We did finally get another person for our group but unfortunatley they haven't impressed me much at all. The troubleshooting skills don't seem to be there. Too quick to ask for help and not very good time management skills and unorganized, maybe it's just me but I like to start the day with a clear desk so l clean up before I leave everynight but this guy has papers and notes about notes everywhere. It's like he needs crip notes on everything he does, and you just can't do that in our environment. I've tested him a couple ocassions by sending him to user who had a fairly easy fix and it was turned into an all day event for him. I don't know what to do. I don't have authority over him so I can't really call him out. He came from being very micro-managed to our group which is NOT micro managed and you can't micro manage for what we do so I think he's having a tough time adjusting to that. either that or he's just that bad? Jury still out on that. I guess working on computers come natural but I would think if you do something 4-5 times you wouldn't continue to need a checklist everytime you do that same thing. It's kinda frustrating! Then there are the personal calls and personal business. That shit really annoying the piss outta me. Don't get me wrong! I do personal things at work from time to time but I don't make it a habit and I do it on my time not my company's time! Ah... I could go on but This is a pretty good rant! haven't had one of these in a while. More on work. On the flip side my carerr and ladder climbing is going well. I'm looking for another promotion here in a few months.... I hope. Me and my boss will most likely be breaking away from our current group and creating our own group dedicated to a specific area that we feel has been neglected to some degree. Things still have to be drawn up and approved but it's in the workings. Will most likely be a considerable raise but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. The question was already asked "would this be a lateral move?" and if that question is asked that means we'll have to do some heavy convincing that it IS a promotion position and NOT a lateral move. We'll see. Thanks for letting me vent blog gods!
