Christmas Shopping time! I started the day by putting up my christmas light garland around my door and my "Me Want More Presents!" Taz Sign :) Went and got a paper and started sifting through the sale papers. I started out at turkey creek and jotted down some gift ideas and went into stores I never go in unless it's christmas time like Linens and Things. They have some cool stuff. I was rudely reminded on why I don't shop at Old Navy! My god it was nasty! I would say nastier than wal-mart! I'm going to say something that some people might appreciate. My feeling is in retail Presentation is EVERYTHING! You walk into old navy with tables of clothes looking like your dirty laundry pile! Clothes on the floor and NOBOBY picking them up. Shit! You know what... my dirty laundry pile looks more organized. Gross... I walked in and right back out. It just looks unprofessional. I don't know??? Maybe they're trying to mimnic TV shows where they always show women going at it for some big sale and sifting through a huge pile? Sorry, not for me.
Next I went out to West Town Mall and looked around for a couple hours. I think I found more stuff for myself than I did people I'm buying for. One cool "new" thing is year and they seem to be the big thing is the Plug 'n' play video games! Them old now classic video games have made a come back! The big one in the malls is Power Play and it comes with three controllers and 76,000 built in games! Oh yeah. It's sweet and I'll be getting one soon! All you do is plug into your tv's video and audio input and turn it on!. Now for some buyer bewares. The first one is the Power Play games as I mentions above. Don't buy it in the mall... At hickory hollow they wanted $49.99 and at West town they wanted $54.99 ?? Fuck you buddy! It's on ebay. Just do a search for Power Play . Here's a direct link to one Auction. Another item that seems to be in demand this year is the RoboSabien and there is a price war going on with this guy so be carefull. Don't even think about buying it for over $90. Kmart is supposed to have it for $69.88 as their sale paper states but website has different price unless paper is a misprint? I wouldn't mind having that to fool around with. Another item is Hard Drives! Particularlly the Western Digital 250 GIG I got one last march for $159 with rebate and now regular price is $179 so I got a pretty good deal. Places are advertising $159 or $139 with AFTER mail-in Rebates..... EXCEPT!!! samclub who has it for $129 regular price, no rebate crap. At least the one in Murfreesboro does. I'll check K-town soon! That's a damn steal if you ask me, the IT Professional :) Which reminds me if you have any technical buying question feel free to ask and I'll try and help. What else?? I was thinking of one more thing. Can't think of it??? Phooey. I just end this post with a general buyer beware. Shop around first. Check amazon, ebay, qvc and even the retailer you want to purchase from online cause they just might have a special online price. Both Kmart and Walmart do this. Some of the higher end priced items can actually be found cheaper on their website. Oh yeah.. No I remember. PLASMA or LCD TV's... Major price drop is accuring this winter season with them You can EASILY find a 42" plasma or lcd for UNDER $2,000 !! The catch is they are the EDTV version which is one resolution below HDTV but frankly it's just as good and considering there are few hdtv broadcasts it is a very nice item! Here is a Plasma Buying guide and info about EDTV vs. HDTV. Happy Shopping!
I had a pretty good turkey day.... Ate lots of turkey. Went back to the Boro to be with family and have a good turkey! Went shopping with dad on Friday and had a good time. Hadn't been to hickory hollow mall in Ages and they've yet again remodeled... This time I think they got it right. I would say over 75% of the mall is no carpeted instead of hard ceramic tile. I tell you what, it made walking around alot easier. Lot's of seating, they got rid of part of the food court and put more seats in there along with adding a some very nice children areas and get this.... 3 tramplins! Those kinds with the bungie cords. I'm sure that's been done elsewhere but I still thought it was pretty inovative. Considering there is SO much competition now mall's have to thinkg outside of the box and I liked what they had done.
I drove back to K-town Friday evening to get ready for the last vols home game and last tailgate of the season.... got off to a later start but had a good time just the same. An unexpected friend showed up and it was all good. Afterwords I had a previous obligation to pick up a friends dog at the kennel or Dog-Med as my friends call it. They have pick-up between 4-6pm only and my friends were coming back from a california trip and didn't want to leave their dog there one more night, so couldn't refuse cause well... they're good friends and so is doggie :) I had planned on leaving the game early but decided to wait it out and I had a chance to get out of the parking garage before the crowds came but decided to hang around since I probably wouldn't be seeing some of the tailgate crowd for some time. I figured I had time.... it was only a little after 4pm and the garage usually takes only an hour to empty and it was kensucky. Boy... I was wrong. I guess the rain didn't help. Long story short I made it to the kennel at exactly 6pm. I had called ahead and let them know I might be a few minutes late and it was only a few miles from where I was but it took over an hour and a half for the garage to even start moving!! Once out though and onto 40 east is was clear sailing... Good thing I didn't have to go west cause it was ALL kinds of backed up. Well... the adventure continues. I had planned on going over to bitter's place for an evening of board games(which is a lost treasure in my opinion) but I called it off as I wanted to just go ahead and stay with my doggie friend till her mommy and daddy came back from the airport. Goood thing cause it was an all night adventure... sort of. We still don't know what happened but the key that was supposed to have been left in a secret location was not there and I looked heavily for it so I had to my sadie mae(dog's name) to my place and hang out. I made my first fire of the season and hunkered down and watched the timeless classic It's a wonderfull life on NBC. I really miss the days when it was on 24/7 on every station!! I'd like to know how NBC got exclusive right to a public domain movie??? Anyway, we had good time nestled next to the fire, she doesn't like the cold at all! She was picked up around 11:30 or so and I concluded my evening by falling asleep to a movie. Turns out I would have had to bring sadie home anyway cause somebody had dead bolted the front door of my friends house and the key was only for the door knob. They're playing host to a kid so they could got to a better school so I think she has some questions to be answered. Long enough.... next post :)
