An Original Performance Project

A Creative Character Education Program

polaris.jpg

Literature, Poetry, Music and Media combine with Student Created Original Writing creating one of a kind original performance projects.

What is Polaris?

Harriet Tubman followed it to Freedom.

Ancient sailors were guided by its light.

Discover Polaris, the North Star, a metaphor for knowing who we are.

It may be said that our choices are determined by our personal sense of true north.   This sense of direction, our internal compass is Polaris, the North Star. As much as it lights the sky, it shines within--self defined, self articulated—illuminating the paths of our lives to clarify what we believe, who we are and what we might become.

Our professional teaching artists work with your student group to create an original, thematically based performance piece that explores personal polaris.  Integrating ensemble building techniques, process and performance, Socratic method and original creative writing, with literary collage, poetry, myth, story, historical and journalistic text with music and movement, each project reflects the needs, perspectives and desires of the creative participants involved and results in an original collaborative performance work that fits within the framework of resources provided.

We cannot know the journey the future holds, but we can provide the tools to help chart the course.

In finding Polaris, though we may be in uncertain waters, we are never lost.
