About the song:

This song was written in late summer of 1983 on my first trip to Nashville. Like “Southern Girl”, it is loosely based on actual events.

It evokes for me a place, a feel, an atmosphere, and time in my life that was very romantic and exotic. It was all new to me then.

I continually hear from people about what this song means to them, and how important it has been. That is very gratifying.

I am eternally grateful to Pam Tillis for hearing it too, and taking it on an amazing run.

I love this song. This is my version. With a lot of help from the guys, but especially Lisa Haley.
