AAVSO Charts

This is the world's largest and most complete set of variable star charts. Always check to see if an AAVSO chart exists for your cataclysmic variable first.

Henden/Sumner/Simonsen Charts

Not all of the field calibrations done by Arne Henden have been turned into AAVSO charts yet. The sequences created by Bruce Sumner and Mike Simonsen that have not yet been made into AAVSO charts can be found here.

SDSS Cataclysmic Variable Charts

In October 2001, first results of a new survey done using the Sloan Digital Sky Survey were published. In this paper 19 new and 3 previously known CV systems were identified. The complete survey is expected to locate at least 400 new CVs.

The abstract and full paper can be read at

The charts and sequence files contained in these web pages are for these new CVs. The photometry used to create the sequences was supplied by Dr. Arne Henden of the US Naval Observatory, Flagstaff Station.

Simonsen Provisional Charts

The charts on these pages are of the fields of newly-discovered, little-studied, faint or southern variables for which reliable photometry does not currently exist. The charts contain preliminary visual sequences to aid in locating and monitoring these stars only. The "photometry" is generally unreliable visual magnitudes from USNO A2.0 or UCAC 1.
