Otero County hams are busy people who like to push the limits of the radio art. Amateur
radio is not CB radio - there is a big difference. Hams have to take and pass tests on
electronics, FCC rules, RF safety, and amateur radio protocols, to name a few. When the chips are down and
normal communications aren't working, hams step up with their own gear to take up the slack. Disaster? You'll find
hams there either doing all the communications because cell phones and normal radio channels are out, or taking the
health and welfare traffic off the congested channels that are working. Been there, done that... Questions?
Interested in world-wide communications, or talking to the driver of that car with
