You’ve arrived at Night
Harbor and Night Harbor's original Website. We are small sub-division
nestled on the shore of beautiful Lake Murray.
We are a few miles from the town of Chapin that is approximately 30 miles NW of Columbia, the
capital of South Carolina. Our community offers a unique
quality of life for those seeking the relaxing pleasures of lakeside living. This is a year-round playground offering excellent
opportunities for sailing, power boating, water skiing, fishing and swimming. The links at the side this page will
take you to various pages from leisure activities, community activities, and the Association Members Only page which explains
how our community is managed.
These pages offer a small glimpse of some of the things Night Harbor offers and the reason why our
neighbors love the convenience and fellowship of our community.
We welcome you

In
Flanders Fields John McCrae, 1915. |

In
Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still
bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset
glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from
failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields
where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies.
Memorial Day 2012 is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 30 in 2011). Formerly known as Decoration
Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American
Civil War. It was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.
Begun as a ritual
of remembrance and reconciliation after the Civil War, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general
expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, whether they had served in the military
or not.
