Welcome, friends…
Those of you peeking at this web page most likely already know me,
so
I’ll just jump into "local" news
Life is grand!! We’re very happy these days. The weather is wonderful and we’re looking forward to ripening tomatoes and onions although the slugs got all of my zucchini. I’ll have to rely on the kindness of family and friends to satisfy my zucchini bread cravings (if you have extra give me a call).
C changed jobs within T___ and is suddenly excited and super-motivated. The other day he gleefully presented his hands for me to smell because he had a chance to get greasy. As of July 1 he is now in mechanical design engineering where he wants to be. Plans to buy a house are still in the works although we’re doing more saving than looking at this stage in the game.
I myself have a new sense of excitement about my writing career. I’ve been writing mostly non-fiction of late, working mostly on the cookbook. We picked and processed 48 pounds of strawberries (yipes!) recently and that provided some inspiration. Success tends to engender success and I’m looking forward to riding this wave of accomplishment and good feeling past the next slow period.
We have finished all of our summer’s airplane vacations with delightful trips to weddings for D and D X____ and S and L R_____ (CONGRATULATIONS!) as well as a week full of family and celebration of my sister-in-law M’s high school graduation and valedictory address (MORE CONGRATULATIONS!). There are several trips planned yet to Spokane to help with canning of applesauce, peaches and pears, and to visit more often with PMAJ and the ‘rents. Labor Day weekend is sure to be fun though plans have yet to be finalized.
We’ve been enjoying our weekly movie night though that is changing from Thursdays to mostly Fridays since C is playing soccer on Thursdays again. We’ve seen some good ones (Henry V, Adam’s Rib, Charade, Eat Drink Man Woman, the Brothers McMullen, Crimson Tide, the Milagro Beanfield War, And Then There Were None, Strictly Ballroom, Braveheart, and the Secret of Roan Inish) and look forward to more as the tradition continues. If you’re in town you are more than welcome to join us around 8:00 for popcorn and a flick. (Paper fights à la MemAud have yet to be initiated.)
I hope you are all enjoying this summer as much as I am! Check out my last NO Review (v.1E) or drop me a line by snail mail or e-mail.
A Bientôt!
