Amber Roessner is a doctoral candidate at UGA's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She received a BA in Sports Studies from UGA in 2003, and a MA in Journalism in 2006. She has worked as a sports writer for the Gainesville Times, as Associate Editor for Athens Magazine and as Editor of Gainesville Life. Her research interests include hero building in sports journalism in the early 20th century. Her publications include "Hero-crafting in Sporting Life" which was published in American Journalism in Spring 2009. Amber lives in Jefferson and joined SABR in 2009. She is the recipient of a 2009 Yoseloff-SABR Research Grant. She also enjoys distance running and hiking.
