About Hebron UCC

Hebron United Church of Christ rests on the crest of a hill at the junction of Hebron Church Road and Old Highway 52 in Midway Township of North Carolina. Hebron UCC celebrates its 155th Anniversary in 2011!

Hebron's sanctuary is warm and inviting.  The Chancel is adorned with flowers on special occasions.  Easter heralds the resurrection of our Lord as Easter Lilies sing the great news. Above our altar is a lighted stained glass window depicting Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Our pastor, David Carter, is a warm, compassionate, and loving man of God. On this Advent Sunday, joy shines forth in this man the Lord has called to tell of the overwhelming love of Christ and the comforting  presence of the Holy Spirit! Pastor Dave has great trust and enthusiasm for his mission and faces each day with a smile.

Each one finds their own way to draw near to God and worship. Easter Sunrise Service celebrates the resurrection of Christ. As our early worship service quietly moves to the cemetery, we take part in the "Sonrise" and the morning meditation, the birds sing and the darkened skies reveal the light of day.

Easter Sunrise 2010 and several of folks gathered welcome the Risen Lord in song and praise.

Pastor Carter brings the message of God's salvation!  He seeks God's wisdom and shares the truth of God's unconditional love to all mankind. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life " John 3:16 NRSV.

Ready to greet our Lord with palms, these children and other characters set the stage for the different thoughts and views of people gathered on the first Palm Sunday.

Hebron's choir sings under the able direction of director and organist, Cathy Motsinger.  Cathy gladly welcomes new voices into the choir. Music is an important part of every worship service!

Hebron Choir and various readers presented a moving tenebrae service during holy week.  Sandra Hiatt snuffs out one of the candles representing another important event in Jesus's painful journey to the cross.

Kala White watches as 3 children try their hands at stacking cups.  This was one of many activities at Hebron's Community Egg Hunt 2010.  The weather was cool, but the children were warmed by hunting eggs and other engaging fun opportunities offered.

Sheena Cooper possesses the voice of an angel.  She shares her gift with the congregation of Hebron as pictured above at the 2010 Palm/Passion Sunday Service.

Hebron is blessed with many special people, but Raymond and Thelma Leonard are two very special folks, shown above on their 62nd wedding anniversary.  Love blooms eternal between them and within their family.

<>Hebron Women's Fellowship is at the heart of service at Hebron United Church of Christ. Jesus calls us to serve and love one another. This group gathers the second Thursday of each month. Pictured at their Christmas Social above from left to right are Debra Everidge, Frances Jones, Gaye Lane, Bonnie Fansler and their president, Joan Craven.

Homecoming is a time to smile and reunite with old friends.  Pictured above from left to right are Sandra Hiatt, Sierra Poteat, Laura Poteat, April Poteat, and a former Hebron Pastor, Kevin Gilliam.

Hebron is known for many great cooks, and Homecoming gave everyone a chance to sample many wonderful delights!  Paula Sykes shows one of her choices. Going back to the table for seconds is the usual plan for most people.  Desserts are waiting  for everyone after the vegetables and meats are eaten.

Shown above from the left going around the table are: Jamie Anderson, Ida Ray Carter, Alan Hagaman, Cathy Hagaman, Kaitlyn Hagaman, Jean Largen, and  C. Mike Davis.  At this reception and for any other excuse that can be found, Hebron enjoys fellowship, food, and reason to celebrate!

Christmas time allowed Hebron folks the chance to celebrate after the Morning Worship hour that featured the senior choir cantata and drama skit. Seen above are many of the folks staying to enjoy food and catch a visit from "Jolly Old St. Nicholas."

When we talk about hard workers, Joan Craven  (left) and Cathy Motsinger (right) are two of the first to come to mind. Joan fills many roles within the church while Cathy is our organist and choir director.  In this photo, the tremendous duo are helping to serve after the Christmas Program as folks come to gather for fellowship.

<>Santa Claus graced our church gathering and told everyone to be good because he was still checking his list.  Laura Poteat knows that she has been very, very good!

Hebron has a ball field included in its Memorial Park.  A picnic shelter adjoins the ball field.  Weekly, Hebron hosts a community team that practices on the field during baseball season.

Reverend Carter  pronounces the benediction. May each one that comes through the doors of Hebron United Church of Christ leave knowing the love of Christ goes with them. As each gathering concludes, our worship and service continue as we leave to serve and love one another.
