THE BUSH CENTRE FOR BALLET was founded by Rosalyn Bush, a graduate of Emory University with a degree in Education and math. She was trained in ballet and pointe at the Frankie Danziger/Levy School of Ballet in Augusta, GA and at Studio Dionne in Atlanta, with 20+ years of dancing and teaching experience combined. Her participation in theatre directing, writing, and choreography in volunteer organizations inspired her to teach. She has appeared in pre-professional performances with CityDance Ensemble at Seven Stages, The Alliance Mainstage, and the Ferst Center for the Arts, and played a character role in The North Atlanta Dance Theatre's 2006 production of The Nutcracker. She was featured in an article in Chai Magazine promoting healthy exercise in the form of dance as a means to maintain graceful aging. Her goals included opening a studio in Sandy Springs to enable children to enjoy feelings of expression of individuality through dance and provide options for future lifetime endeavors. Ms. Bush believes in creating a healthy environment in which students will learn to appreciate the history and various techniques of classical ballet. Previously on the teaching staff at the Sandy Springs Hammond Park Recreation Center, she has been a member of the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce, and an Ambassador for the Chamber, and is currently a Friend of the Royal Academy of Dance. The Bush Centre for Ballet has participated in the Sandy Springs Festival for 6 years with the students performing in 2012 and 2015. They will again perform in 2016. The studio has contributed to various community charitable causes. A long time patron of the arts in Atlanta for The Atlanta Ballet and The Alliance Theatre, The Bush Centre for Ballet celebrated it's 7th year anniversary in 2012. In 2009, the Bush Centre was chosen by Nickelodeon's Parent Pick Awards as best dance classes in Atlanta. In June of 2012, the studio presented it's annual recital for the 5th year at The Marcus Jewish Community Center Morris and Rae Frank Theatre. Annual field trips to see performances of The Atlanta Ballet included Twyla Tharp's The Princess and The Goblin (2012), Cinderella (2013), and Sleeping Beauty (2016). Since community service has always been an important aspect of Ms. Bush's life, in 2011, the studio partnered with Toys for Tots in Atlanta and successfully raised funds for the foundation by having the students create and sell holiday wreaths. Wreaths were also donated to a local assisted living facility's Alzheimer's Unit. In 2012 the students visited Hammond Glenn Senior Community in Sandy Springs and performed an excerpt from West Side Story. In 2013 the studio held it's Winter Performance, open to the public at Heritage Sandy Springs. In 2015 they again performed at Heritage Sandy Springs. They completed their 11th annual recital at the MJCCA theatre in June 2016. Ms. Bush additionally volunteers with the SSEF Reading Buddies program in the public elementary schools in Sandy Springs.
