I work (and play) helping a community of people grow and improve based on its members' vision and desires.



I live in a small town in a rural area in the southern U.S. I was born in the south and grew up in this culture. I am a lens that the culture shines through. I continue to discover new ways I express southern, white, male culture in my own life. Some of these expressions are positive and others are negative.



My wife is my spouse, my friend, another part of me. An enamelist, sculptor, painter and student of plants and animals. Our children are beautiful, wise, strong, bright and caring.



My job and the service I provide to my community is important to me, and I frequently work over 40 hours per week. Professionally, I write grants and administer and support a community improvement plan.



Politically, I am probably middle-of-the-road on a national basis, which makes me a flaming, heart-on-my-sleeve liberal in my own geographic area.



Religiously, I am a Methodist who is visiting in a local congregation at this time.



Song and singing and music are very important to me. I sing and play enough guitar to accompany myself. I write songs. I enjoy playing my songs and other people's songs in public. I like to sing harmony (bass or tenor).



I enjoy acting and theatre. In the past four years, I have had parts in several local plays, including "The Sound of Music", "A Christmas Carol", "She Loves Me" and "Brown Vs. Board of Education - The Case That Changed America."



I belong to the science fiction fan subculture. I read and fantasize science fiction and fantasy stories. I have a set of unfinished novels, plays, and short stories stashed in a filing cabinet. Dragon magazine published my write-up on Beowulf and paid me for it (g). I have been a guest singer at several science fiction and filking conventions. I helped found, organize, and run a general purpose SF convention.
