ROK'S BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

In addition to attending college,
brightening-up the lives of everyone that she meets and always teaching her father something new, interesting and meaningful,
every single time that we get to talk, my very-brilliant and very-beautiful daughter ALSO
works part-time at a book store, so she tells me that - from now on - we'll both get to read lots and lots of great books
- FOR FREE !
For Christmas this year, my
daughter got me Michael Moore's newest release, which is called "Dude, Where's My Country". I've now
read almost all of it and it's managed to completely piss me off - all over
again! - ESPECIALLY the very expansive information in the book about how the American news media
is just LAYING DOWN on the job!
I consider myself quite lucky
to be 'e-mail friends' with a few of my personal hero-types. One of these people with whom I sometimes get to correspond
is Michael Moore. Another is the great White House press corp veteran-reporter, Helen Thomas. Helen is the last REAL
White House reporter to actually EARN her paycheck!
From our brief email messages
back and forth, it looks like all three of us are in agreement on this one, all-important point:
The
so-called "mainstream American news media"...
really SUCKS!
Forget about that mythic "liberal
biased media" that allthose right-wing ass hats such as Rush "Pill-Boy" Limbaugh and those idiotic
FOX News thunder-monkeys are constantly whining and bitching about! This fictitious 'liberal-controlled press'
has honestly NEVER existed ANYWHERE in the United States of America. ALL the electronicmedia
news outlets and the newspaper publishing companies HAVE ALWAYS BEEN and STILL REMAIN the
PERSONALLY-OWNED PROPERTY of a select few, very rich, very powerful, very politically-connected and VERY
CONSERVATIVE individuals, families and (more recently) by the various GOP-friendly multi-national
corporations and conglomerates.
FACT:
Right now, every single bit of the information that's available to the American TV
news consumers and all of the information that's made available to the nation's entire population of newspaper
readers - is completely controlled by SIX PEOPLE !
These days, I'd happily
settle for even one national television or radio news program that was EVEN SLIGHTLY
to the left of Attila The Friggin' Hun! We desperately need a 'regime change' at CNN, at
MSNBC, at CBS, at ABC and anywhere else we find that the news media has just been mindlessly parroting
and repeating the warn-out lies of the Bush administration.
Anyway, so back to the subject
matter at hand...
As I was saying, I can definitely
recommend the newest Michael Moore book, the best-seller named "Dude, Where's My Country" and for THAT
matter, I can ALSO recommend his earlier best-selling book called "Stupid White
Men". I'd also recommend ANYTHING ELSE
that Michael Moore has ever written!
You should also check-out
his internationally acclaimed, award-winning documentary films, like "Bowling for Columbine" and "Roger
and Me" and if you can actually FIND any of it, you should also take a look at Michael Moore's earlier
work in television.

I'm also currently enjoying
another literary Christmas present, a book which I think I recieved from my mother - James
"Corporal Cue-Ball" Carvill's latest release is called "Had Enough?" Carvill is one of the two
INTELLIGENT hosts of CNN's "Crossfire". He's ALSO
famous for being one of the very brilliant and highly sought-after Democratic political strategists, one of the men considered
to be among those most-directly responsible for President Clinton's historic 1992 Presidential election, his eventual re-election
to his second Presidential term, as well as being part of the award-winning political documentary film about the '92 election
called "The War Room".
James Carvill also coined
the election strategy and the now-famous Clinton campaign catch-phrase "It's the ECONOMY, Stupid!"
Carville's newest book is
a very good read, but it really needs to be about 500-750 pages longer! It just ended way too
soon for my tastes, as great writing usually does.

These are just a couple of
the most recent book releases that I've had the chance to read.
Later on, I'll try to
add a more comprehensive and far more detailed list of the books which I've read and which I've got something of real
value from, as well as those lighter books that I've simply enjoyed reading enough
to recommend them to others.
