The goal of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble is to deliver quality musical instruction on the harp, develop music reading skills and musicianship.

The vision is to begin instruction with 6th graders who will continue receiving instruction at Brown Middle School throughout their middle and high school years, ultimately developing into a premier performance ensemble.

This musical endeavor is the brainchild of Elisabeth Remy, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Harpist and Roselyn Lewis, Brown Middle School music teacher. Urban Youth Harp Ensemble began in the fall of 2000 with two Brown Middle School students. We continue in 2003 with ten 7th graders, eight 8th graders and one 9th grader. Ten new 6th graders will begin in January, 2004.
