Southern Boulevard Bridge

The Southern Blvd Bridge launch site is in the middle of the intracoastal waterway in the middle of Palm Beach. The adjacent mangrove spoil islands offer good fishing and birding. The configuration also offers shelter from high winds. Plenty of big houses to see along the waterway.

Directions: Take I-95 to Southern Blvd (Highway 80, exit 68) east. Drive about a mile until you get on the bridge. There are small parking lots on your right and left at the entrance to the island. You can park in either one to launch.

Entrance fee/parking: Free. There is a sign that says parking is limited to 2 hours after 9AM, but reportedly is only enforced when the parking lots are full.

Facilities: None

Put-in/Take-out: Launch from the sandy beaches by the parking lots.

Route: Paddle north or south. The spoil islands for fishing are on the south side of the bridge. Watch for fishermen when paddling through the bridge.
