SADIE BESHEARS & CNTRY ROSE SHADOW MAGICIAN
I have always had a desire to
be involved with horses. One day in February 2003 Gma and I took a ride to her
friend, Donna Katsdorn’s house to see her Miniature Horses. She invited
us to go to the Stables with her where she boarded her Mini’s.
She introduces us to Robyn County,
who was the Caretaker at the Sunset View Stables. Before we left, Robyn invited me to take lesson with her and the Mini’s. I went to twice a week for training.
My first lesson was on February 25,
2003. One lesson and I was hooked! I
began my training with JJ Hot Shot KeepMeKlose, her barn name was Keeper. The first show we attended was SeaTac Spectacular Mini’s held at the Gray Harbor
Fairgrounds. What an experience! It
was lots of fun, learned a lot and came home with many ribbons. I drove Keeper
pulling a cart, entered her in Showmanship and Halter classes.
In July we entered a 2nd
show in Tacoma, the Evergreen Miniature Show. More experience and of course more
ribbons! Our favorite class we entered was the Costume class. We took home 1st,
2nd, & 3rd place ribbons. In August we entered our
mini’s in the Olympia Pet Parade. We took home 2 -1st place
ribbons. Kiersten’s picture of her and Kurly as Clowns was on the front page of the Daily Olympian.
There were 3 girls in our group. We decided we wanted to name our group. We
became the Spectacular Mini Trotters. We joined with lot of enthusiasm to learn
as much as we could. Prior to the show in Tacoma, more children joined our group. My 5 year old cousin, Kiersten Barber joined us, along with her brother, Kevin. My brother, Zackery also joined.
In Sept and Oct we took the Mini’s
to the Cider Mill so that the public could see them. We had a lot of fun telling
them what great things we do with our mini’s.
The first time I met Jinx was at
the Tacoma show in July 2003. He was then owned by Cheryl Rose, who is also one of our Trainers. He was about a month old. Both Gma and I thought he was just
the cutest horse.
Show season for us was over, so back
to the stables for more practice, practice and more practice! The boys dropped
out. My brother, Zack, lives in Federal Way and spent most of the summer with
us, so that gave him the opportunity to work with the Mini’s and enter the show as well.
The past few months I have missed
more practices than I have attended due to many factors. Gma and Robyn did some
planning and now thanks to my Great Uncle Bernie, Robyn agreed to sell Jinx to me. On
Sat, Feb 25, 2006 – 3 years to the day I begin with the Mini, s – I now own my own Miniature. It was the greatest
feeling to know that Jinx now belongs to me.
I did not have a clue! Gma told me I was in for a surprise – I just thought that I was finally getting to go back to practice
once again. That alone was enough for me!
I got Jinx from his stall. As I was beginning to take his blankets and neck wraps off a card fell to the floor. As I begin to read it I got tears in my eyes. Inside was a
letter written to me from Jinx. He told me that he was getting a new owner. Finally
he told me the new owner was me! I was so ecstatic I could hardly stand it. The letter was very nice. Walt &
Georgia, owners of the stables were also there. Cheryl was not able to be there, but was there in our hearts. I now know that from day one Jinx was always meant to be mine. The
neatest factor is that he was first owned by Cheryl, then Robyn and now he is mine!
I am so thankful for the day Robyn and Cheryl came into my life. They
have done so much for me – I have learned many things about the mini’s from them.
I have also gained a lot of confidence and self-esteem from them. They
are the 2 most important people in my life – I love and appreciate them so very much.
Owning my own horse is a great feeling
– I am not sure if I will ever come down out of the clouds. I do know that
now I can make one of my other dreams come true! That is to go the National with
Jinx.
I really can’t believe I own
Jinx! I looked forward to practicing with him each week and to the shows we will
enter this year.
I have worked and showed many of
Robyn & Cheryl’s mini’s, however it is much more exciting to train your own horse. To be able to learn the many tasks that goes along with owning your own horse. I look forward with great enthusiasm going to the shows from now on with my very own horse – Jinx!
Thank you everyone for making a dream
come true for me.
