CAMPING in Italy
Campgrounds
As with France and Germany, Italy has nearly a thousand campgrounds in all corners of the country. Search under "Camping Italy" or "Campeggio Italia" and you will find a lot of listings.

Our first night in Italy was at Azienda Agrituristica La Vigna in Cola di Lazise close to the southern end of Lake Garda near Verona. Here a farmer/vineyard operator had installed a sanitary block and electricity to service motorhomes only. Basically a campground but only for RV's, there were not any tents here. He also had a small hotel on the property. A very nice facility that was very clean and well maintained. Made friends with 3 German RVer's and visited each others rigs. All were impressed with the View's little slide out. (We basically bought the rig for that feature since it gives you a "living space" in a small motorhome). Nearby were a couple of small taverns that sold a vino or two. |
| Our Venice campground was the
popular Fusina camp on the mainland just south of Mestre. It has a
direct boat connection to Venice at Zattare, thus eliminating the always
fun Piazza Roma transportation hub follies. It is also located on a
shipping channel and some large vessels pass very close by. Almost a
resort site it has all the facilities plus a restaurant, a bar and a mini
market. Though in season I would suspect that a boisterous crowd of
young people may party till past midnight.
Yes that is a very large ship out Papillon's window. |
