Hungarian Census - 1869

Alsolaps, Szepes, Hungary

There were 124 households or dwellings within the village.  Each household had a distinct house number and a separate set of forms which listed who lived there, the relationships, birthdate, occupation and place of birth, as well as some other data.  Multi-family dwellings had numbered entries for each family.

House numbers are repeated in the Parish Records and serve as an address.

I believe the Hungarians added the letter Z to everything.  Thus I think that these extracts are for the Cempa and Soltes families of Nizne Lapes.

Census data can often be incomplete and should not be considered the Final word concerning family history

Extracts of Czempa Families

Household # 86

The family of Josef Czempa, born 1840

Living in a multi-family dwelling.  There were maybe 10 or less multi-family housing units in the village, most were single family.  Here we see 2 adults and 2 male children - Pavel and Adalbert, who is Grandfather George

Household # 93

Family of Whiforal (sp?) Czempa

Husband, wife and 1 son and 3 daughters with birth dates. Jacob, born in 1857 was to be married the same day as Grandfather George.

Household # 74

Family of Josef Czempa, born 1833

This family lived in a multi-family dwelling with 3 other families (The 3 and 4 in the left column indicates that.)

Extract of Soltesz Family

Household # 87

This appears to be a Grandfather and a couple with 3 children, 1 girl and 2 boys.

Household # 75

There was not a Soltesz family in the dwelling at that time.
