TMT & Sawmill MD Selected to Provide

Claude Howard’s Linear Edger System

Timber Machine Technologies and Sawmill MD are pleased to announce that Claude Howard Lumber Company has chosen TMT’s Scan-N-Saw Linear Edger System for their high-speed southern pine mill in Statesboro, Ga. The system is scheduled to be installed in late spring.

The configuration of the system includes a high speed feed table that transitions the flitches to the infeed scanner belt. This leads to a TMT 4 saw Scan-N-Saw Linear Edger, and TMT’s unique “Low Rider” picker finger outfeed system.

The TMT “Low Rider” outfeed system will have 3 picker fingers that slew with the good boards as they come out of the linear edger. The edger outfeed will also have the capability to separate boards that are destined for additional manufacturing from boards going to the trimmer.

The system will utilize USNR Optimization Division’s Lineal TriCam Optimization system.

TMT is a supplier of quality sawing equipment for both softwood and hardwood mills. TMT specializes in Optimized (Transverse or Linear) and Manual Edger and Gang Sawing systems.

Sawmill MD & TMT install 2 Scan-N-Saw Edger Systems in the Carolinas

Sawmill MD & TMT are pleased to announce the successful start up of 2 TMT Scan-N-Saw Optimized Linear edger systems in the Carolinas.

The first system went to Turn Bull Lumber in Elizabethtown NC. This system is a 3 saw short coupled system using the Inovec G3 linear scanning system. Turn Bull cuts hardwoods and cypress in both random and fixed widths.

The system was placed in the same space as their existing manual 2 saw edger, and can be fed from both sides. The space required for the TMT short coupled system is approximately 59.5ft from the operator side on the scan conveyor to where the TMT “Low Rider” picker finger outfeed places the edged boards on the trimmer deck. 

The second system is at Coastal Lumber Company’s mill at Walterboro, SC. This is a 4 saw short coupled system that also is set up with Inovec G3 optimization and controls. This Coastal mill cuts high grade pine, and has extremely wide flitches.

The system at Coastal has a 4 finger TMT ”Low Rider”  outfeed, so that it can handle not only 3 board solutions, but also do a strip save if the flitch contains a 4^th board. This installation had an extremely short space to insert the complete TMT Scan-N-Saw system, but it was able to fit in the same area that the old 2 saw manual edger was in. The total length of this system was 47’ from the operator side on the scan conveyor to where the TMT “Low Rider” picker finger outfeed places the edged boards on the trimmer deck. 

Both of these systems have been running for a few months, and the mill managers at both mills are extremely satisfied with the results of these installations.

Battle Lumber Company joins the Growing List of

Satisfied Danfoss Customers

Sawmill MD has completed a very successful installation of a Danfoss High-Pressure Water Mist system at Battle Lumber Co.'s sawmill in Wadley Georgia.

Tommy Battle and his team are very pleased with the reduction of airborne dust in the mill. The overall improvement in the air quality in the mill is significant.

The Danfoss system included a 6 valve Danfoss oil less pump. This allowed Battle to install the system on six different machine centers in the mill with one pump unit. The mist system was installed on the headrig, horizontal resaw, Maxi-Mill twin, line bar resaw, trimmer, and on the outfeed of the TMT Curve sawing gang.
