In
the Southwest United States
there are 19 Pueblo tribes. In Northern Mexico, indigenous
groups represented in Chihuahua are; Tarahumara, Tepehuán, Náhuatl, Guarijio,
Mazahua, Mixteco, Zapoteco, Pima, Chinanteco, and Otomí, among other tribes.
The mission of the project, Los Pueblos Indigenas, is to provide intercultural
education and exchange between Pueblo and Mexican indigenous and land-grant
groups in order to advance and maintain the traditional cultures of the Americas.
