In the Southwest United States there are 19 Pueblo tribes. In Northern Mexico, indigenous groups represented in Chihuahua are; Tarahumara, Tepehuán, Náhuatl, Guarijio, Mazahua, Mixteco, Zapoteco, Pima, Chinanteco, and Otomí, among other tribes.

The mission of the project, Los Pueblos Indigenas, is to provide intercultural education and exchange between Pueblo and Mexican indigenous and land-grant groups in order to advance and maintain the traditional cultures of the Americas.
