Greetings in the Name of the Lord!!!! As with all hobbies, each and every one takes lots of time. Time to read and study, and time to practice
hands-on. All of the hobbies you read about on the Shepherd’s Hill Farm were done this way. This time, however, learning
how to raise honeybees will be done differently. How so? Well, this time God has blessed me with a wonderful teacher, Mr.
Hoggle. Mr. Hoggle works with Dad and raises lots and lots of Honeybees. He is full of knowledge and is helping me get started
in my new adventure
Since no one in my family has ever done this, it will be a new
experience of definite trial and error. :-) So with the Lord’s Blessing, a LOT of help from Mr. Hoggle, and lots
of encouragement from my Family, Please join me in this new adventure of raising honeybees!!!!
I will keep a journal for each time I check or inspect the hive,
new things learn, or things I buy and what they are used for. So check back at least once a week for new updates.

Day 1 - May 1
Mr. Hoggle arrived at 8:30 p.m. with the
two hives he had split. The bees are calmer at night. He placed them on the concrete blocks Dad and I had leveled up. We suited
up and then Mr. Hoggle pulled out the wire pieces that were holding the bees in the hive. A few flew out. And that was it!!!
The bees were here:) Mr. Hoggle satyed for a visit and had a cup of coffee. He said he would come tomorrow and swap the supers
and show how to feed them and things to look for.
Day 2 - May 2
At 3:30 Mr. Hogglecame and we opened up the hives. I was kinda
nervous. That was a heap of bees:(
Mr. Hoggle smoked the first hive at the opening and the opened the top with his hive
tool. Then he smoked the top. The smoke calms the bees and enables you to safely inspect your hives. After a good two or three
puffs of smoke we waited just a minute so the smoke settled
