Stephanie Gerding is a librarian, trainer, author and consultant. She was the Continuing Education Coordinator at Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records in Phoenix where she coordinated library training programs, such as Basic Library Services and Spanish Outreach Libraries. She presents workshops around the country on training, grants, and technology topics.

Stephanie's first book, Grants for Libraries, was published by Neal-Schuman in 2006 and received a starred review in Library Journal. She is currently under contract for her second book to be published by Information Today, The Accidental Technology Trainer. She focuses her publications on training, technology, and fundraising for libraries. She was the Bringing in the Money columnist for the Public Library Association’s Public Libraries for the last two years. She has published numerous articles and has been a newsletter editor for various library associations. She also co-authors the Library Grants Blog, which lists grant announcements for libraries in one easy to access location.

Having done a variety of training during her library career for all types of libraries—school, public, academic, and special, Stephanie has presented at national conferences and conducted training across the US from Seattle to Florida, Maine to California, and many places in between. In 2000, Stephanie did training on library topics in South Africa, where she was a volunteer for World Library Partnership’s Inform the World Program in Kwazulu-Natal.

Formerly a trainer for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s U.S. Library Program, Stephanie worked with many public libraries, either traveling to their site or conducting week-long train-the-trainer programs in Seattle. Stephanie has also worked as a systems administrator for a technical library, worked for SIRSI as a traveling trainer, as a cataloger at an academic library, as a online graduate instructor, and also for the New Mexico State Library. Stephanie received her MLIS at the University of Tennessee.
