Day 11: Tuesday, May 26th
Today we left Bedrock City for the Badlands. The Badlands are very cool - heavily eroded clay and sandstone hillsides. It looks like a kid's snow fort carved in stone... You're allowed to hike anywhere you want - "open backcountry policy".

That night we watched fireflies and lightning over the plains - nifty.

The clay surface is just about perfect for hiking.

The formations are layer upon layer of ash and sandstone that have accumulated then eroded over the ages

Subrata explores a "gate" and the views are amazing

If you look very carefully at the very center of the photo on the left you might be able to see Scott

Day 12: Wednesday, May 27th
We drove up Sheep Mountain Table today - nice view of the Badlands and we got the Jeep nice and muddy.

And then we drove across South Dakota and Nebraska. It's very flat here and the scenery is a little boring.

Agate Fossil Beds NM was a little disappointing - not too much to see there.

Scotts Bluff NM was pretty neat. Lots of info about the Oregon Trail, and a nice view of the prairie.

We stayed in the KOA at Scotts Bluff, which was conveniently located next to railroad tracks.
