LUBBOCK TEXAS - VANISHED THEATRES

Lubbock Texas had some great Theatres and the projectionists took great pride in the presentations. I remember playing "The Sound of Music" for 9 months at the Village Theatre. That length of run was un-heard of then. The VILLAGE THEATRE was the Roadshow House at the time. This was BEFORE the WINCHESTER (1965) and CINEMA WEST (1967) WERE Opened.

A rather sleasy joint!

All these Theatres are gone now. The glories of the single screen movie palaces and the Drive-Ins gone. It was a time when movie going was an event. It was also amazing the showmanship that took place here, and the dignity with which movies were presented.
