Our Stories
Vicki Eldredge (me)
|
Born: June 5, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas. Dad was a jarhead (that's a Marine to you civilian-types), but we were able to remain stationed in San Diego, California for most of my youth. The summer before my senior year, we moved from San Diego to Mission Viejo, CA. While I may have graduated from San Clemente High, my heart belongs to Kearny High! I then spent a couple of "discovery" years at Chapman College (just ask my dad about the Tactile Art Happening he was invited to).

In 1978 I moved to Arcadia, California (near Pasadena) with my then boyfriend, David. I married him in 1984 and we moved back to Orange County. In 1989, our daughter, Jessicah Charann was born. Two years later, David decided that he wanted freedom and no more responsibilities. I don't believe in divorce, but he does, thank the gods.

So my daughter and I forged a whole new life for ourselves. She was only two, so the entire world was a new experience for her. And seeing it through her eyes, it was for me, too. I took up writing and drawing again. After a hiatus of a couple of decades, it was hilarious to start doing it again. I discovered Rennassaince Faires ... ohmygoodness. I found out that the effect of the full moon is NOT a myth! I fell into bbs's. Yes, children, this was before the birth of the internet. Out of the bbs's came some of the strongest friendships I've ever encountered. One of these friendships eventually led to marriage. But that was a few years down the road! I found out just how much fun medieval re-enacting can be. And all was right in the world.

| I had sworn off dating, but my friendship with one gentlemen led me to change that philosophy. I had sworn off marriage, too, but that same gentlemen changed my take on that as well. Take note, men of the world, patience and perserverence DO sometimes work. There's a whole section of this homepage dedicated to the topic of the wedding, which occurred only a few months ago. That event just happened to be the most memorable and wonderful wedding ever experienced in the entire recorded history of mankind. It was fun, too.

| And through all the trials and troubles we've had, we're still married. Six years after the first wedding, it just so happened that our anniversary fell on the same type of event that inspired the first wedding. So we did it again. That one was fun, too! (And, of course, we chronicled that one as well!)
