The Angels Were Generous

Dreamt of Me

So funny you should dream of me,
when I have dreamt of you.
And strange it is that you did see
    what I was seeing, too.

But stranger yet that you have felt
    emotions I, too, feel.
So deep within my heart they dwelt,
    those feelings I conceal.

Pray, do not weep, for I dream, too
of things too bright for words.
Not knowing if the dreams were true,
or just my heart I’d heard.

I do not know, to my chagrin,
    the truth and right, it seems;
of feelings hidden there within
    your dream inside a dream.

It’s funny you should dream of me,
as I have dreamt of you.
And sweet it is that you did see,
    what I was seeing, too.
