Dancing for the Crown

There was also a tradition where all the eligible maidens danced in a circle around the blindfolded bride as she held a crown of flowers over their heads. When the music stopped the maiden under the crown was given it as a prize and it is believed she will be the next to marry. We didn't have music, so all the married women and men (who dared) sang Ring Around the Rosey (appropriate, eh?). When the singing stopped, I dropped the wreath. I made my bride's crown from rosemary and lavender.
