A Special Dinner Date

Jamie had a special dinner date planned. We went to the Tale of the Whale in Newport Beach. It's a romantic seafood restaurant overlooking the bay. We watched the sun set, drank wine, ate good food, and talked. About everything under the sun. I noticed he had been a bit "on edge" all evening, and somewhere in the middle of dinner, I found out why.

We were talking about last names and he stopped for a minute and reached into his pocket. I had an inkling of what was coming, but didn't dare believe. He handed me a small box and took a deep breath. Then he said, "Will you marry me?"

I took the ring, looked him in the eye, and (in keeping with the romantic mood of the moment), said, "Why?"

Apparently, he had prepared for all possible answers. Except that one. His response? "Uh ... Uh ... Uh ..."

I thought those were perfectly good reasons and said, "Yes."
