Plans Change - Big Time!
As is the way with anything half done when the fiscal year is over ~ what wasn't already in hand, didn't get done. I had planned my dream dress (battered satin with a chainmail slip over it). Okay, the chainmail is gone. The catered reception turned into a potluck. The video was out. The honeymoon was gone. Lest you worry, though, this day turned out to be more spectacular than we had planned. Take my dress for instance: Thank goodness my mother is creative. Between us, we worked out a dress that would certainly do just fine. The DJ gifted his services. The wedding cake (prettier than the one we planned) was a gift by the maker. The photographer gifted us with his services. My aunt Norma and my grandparents spent two full days cutting up wholesale veggies and cheeses for the platters. I can't even remember it all. Every time I start, I get teary-eyed. It was times like this that we found out who are friends were, and they turned out to be far more numerous than we had ever realized.
There was one particular gift that was a little frightening. May I tell you the story?
