From Steve to Vicki: I have chosen to accept and to do many things as a part of our union. I have chosen to accept your daughter as mine own and to do all that I can to help you raise her. I have chosen to share my love with you and to give you all that I have and am. I have chosen to accept all that you have and are, and to support you in all that you choose to do. I have made it one my life’s goals to fulfill your every wish. I make these vows today and promise to keep them for all the rest of my life.

From Vicki to Steve: As you know, this entire marriage scenario frightens me to death. I am so filled with doubts and fears and questions. But with all the unsureness, the one thing I have no question about is that I want to do this. With you. Today. More than almost anything, I want to grow old with you, exploring our lives alongside one another, learning and leaning together. To that end, I make this pledge to you: I will keep uppermost in my mind the me, the you and the we. When you are in need, I will be your friend. When you are passionate, I will be your lover. When you move forward, I will be your partner. I hope to be both an anchor to secure you, and a kite-string to let you fly free. It’s what you have done and been for me and I pledge to do and be for you.
