This seemed an appropriate photo to end a month of soft edged photos taken under extreme low light conditions.

This is a photo of a young Chinese dancer, dancing with a silk scarf that creates beautiful abstract patterns as she dances.

First Night, Pittsburgh's New Year's Eve celebration, is our favorite. There is such variety offered! We arrived too late to get tickets to the premier shows -- the RCBB, the Tamberitzens, the symphony. No matter, we found great entertainment without them. The Chinese dancers, performing in the new CAPA auditorium. The Opera Theater put on a wonderful "improv" show that was the highlight of the evening. A small brass ensemble played in a hotel lobby. And Tim Menes with his New Orleans jazz piano puts a joyous cap to the evening.
