Here's a Guillow Corsair F4U conversion rendered in 5 channel R/C with a .15 fuel engine
glassed and finished as shown below. It's a rather light result considering the amount of
reinforcement and finish. Radio controls elevator, rudder, ailerons, flaps, and throttle.
Model spans just under 31" and weighs in at 14 ounces for the airframe, and under a pound
and a half ready to fly.
As discussed in the Sopwith project, I made good on moving the firewall back one bulkhead
to accommodate a scale engine installation. Results were plenty satisfactory. I built a removable
cowling that maintains the original dimensions, covers the engine, and retains scale detail.
