Cyanoacrylate adhesive (CA) cures hygroscopically, that is, from moisture.
Extend the working life of opened bottles of CA by keeping them in a sealed container when not actually in use.
I use the sort of jars normally used for home canning of food, like a "Ball" brand jar. These are the sort of jars
with a gasketed metal lid and a ring which screws the lid onto the glass jar.
Put a couple of inches of silica gel in the jar, close the CA bottles and drop them in the jar, and screw
the lid on tight.
I have extended the viable working life of opened CA bottles by as much as _five years_ by keeping the
moisture away as much as possible. The CA thickens a bit over a long period of time, and the long-term result
is that super-thin CA thickens to the viscosity of regular CA, and regular CA thickens to a gap-filling
thick viscosity. The cure time increases accordingly, but the bond strength appears to be the same as the original.
Every couple of years or so, dump the silica gel onto a cookie sheet and bake it at 350 degrees (F) for a
couple of hours to restore the moisture absorbing capacity.
