Blower

The blower assembly, consisting of a squirrel-cage blower and integral motor, is bolted to the opposite end of the box from the filter assembly.

This blower is rated at 465CFM @ 0" WC pressure, and the motor is 115 VAC.

One source for a blower of this size is W W Grainger. Their "Dayton" brand blower model number 4C448 lists for $86.45 (as of 08/29/07). Grainger also have a 230 volt model available.

The blower assembly is bolted to the end panel and through the matching register on the outside of the box. Barely visible in this poorly-composed photo, note the silver electrical box on the right side of the blower. It is an ordinary electrical connection box where the power cord is connected to one side of the switch, and the blower motor is connected to the other side of the switch. If you don't know basic home wiring, find someone who does.

Yes, you have to cut a rectangular hole in the end panel for the air discharge, and no, sealing the blower discharge flange to the box isn't really necessary, but silicone sealant would do nicely if you have some laying about.
