| Wood workers use a down-draft table when they do a lot of sanding. A down-draft table is nothing more than
a perforated table top with a vacuum on the underside, to draft the dust down through the table. Making a hobby version of a
down-draft table is fairly simple.
The box is made from 1" x 4" dimensional lumber, peg board with 1/4" holes, a 1/4" plywood bottom, wood screws, and some sort of tubing.
Connect a vacuum system to one end, and sanding dust will be drawn down through the peg board holes and out of the box.
The down-draft box pictured here is 2' x 3'. The box is not fitted together like a piece of fine cabinetry, and ordinary screw-and-glue
joinery is sufficient to seal the sides and bottom.
