The House Of Balsa Dust / Split elevator control horn
This is a bottom rear view of the split elevator link (joiner, if you prefer)
showing details of the control horn.
The control horn was made from two Goldberg nose wheel steering arms, drilled to
fit the elevator link.
A piece of nylon flat stock was bolted between the lever sections of the horn
halves, and serves as a spacer to keep the lever sections parallel, and also
also serves as the elevator push-rod attachment point.
The two horn halves and the joiner were cross-drilled for screws, and all the
attaching screws, nuts, and bolts were locked in place with CA.
In this bottom rear view, the completed elevator assembly has been mated to the
horizontal stabilizer trailing edge. A clearance notch for the control horn is
just visible in the stab t/e, between pencil marks.
