| Most folks call a gadget like this a "third hand". Really handy for fiddly work, like soldering wires to battery connectors. Clamp the wire in one clip, clamp the connector in another clip, and "mush" the clips around until you get the wire and connector where you want them.
Use the two spare clips to steady the clips holding the work.
It's nothing more than four 18" lengths of 14 gage solid copper wire attached to a heavy weight, with large alligator clips soldered to the ends of the wires.
My version uses a pair of lead weights from a swimming pool cover. You could use a brick, if you can figure out how to attach the wires to the brick.
