My old cheap hollow core door building table warped after only two years' service, but I can't complain
since I only spent about twenty bucks building it.
I queried the woodworking news group about how to build a good, >flat<, permanent building table,
and I got a dozen responses pointing me to a "torsion box". The torsion box is fairly simple to
build, but it does require working with medium density fiberboard (MDF), a product which is
heavy and which makes a gawdawful amount of very fine clinging sawdust.
Because of the internal grid work structure, it is almost impossible for the finished torsion
box to warp, twist, or sag. The finished torsion box is dead flat end-to-end, side-to-side,
and diagonally.
