Workshop Options for Educators       

   Using the Internet as an Effective Teaching Tool

Designed for teachers, library media specialists and technology coordinators for grades 6 - 12 or grades K - 6, this workshop provides a wealth of practical ideas for integrating the Internet into the curriculum.  Activities for helping teach search strategies, evaluation of information, web page design, as well as suggestions for all curriculum areas about Internet based projects are included.  The workshop can be done either entirely as a large screen presentation to the group or as a combination of large screen presentation and hands on activities.  This can be a half day or full day session.  Knowledge of using a web browser is assumed.

    Making the Best Use of the Internet and Technology in the English/Language Arts and Social Studies Classroom

Designed for teachers and library media specialists for grades 6 - 12 or grades 3 - 6, this workshop concentrates on providing activities for use in the English/Language Arts and Social Studies curriculums.  Tactics for managing e-mail projects, assessing multimedia projects, crafting virtual field trips, enhancing research skills, and making effective use of instructional time are included.  The workshop can be done either entirely as a large screen presentation to the group or as a combination of large screen presentation and hands on activities.  This can be a half day or full day session.  Knowledge of using a web browser is assumed.

    Surfing Efficiently

Learn to search the Internet effectively and efficiently.  Gain a number of searching strategies for yourself plus tips for teaching Internet searching to your students. The workshop can be done either entirely as a large screen presentation to the group or as a combination of large screen presentation and hands on activities.  This can be a one or two hour session.

     Evaluating Information from the Internet

Gather strategies and teaching ideas for helping students learn to evaluate the information gathered from the Internet. Helpful hints for citing information and copyright issues will also be discussed. The workshop can be done either entirely as a large screen presentation to the group or as a combination of large screen presentation and hands on activities.  This can be a one or two hour session.

     Internet Projects

Looking for collaborative projects?  Want to learn more about WebQuests?  Interested in developing interdisciplinary projects which use the Internet?  This workshop will provide practical suggestions for all these questions.  The workshop can be done either entirely as a large screen presentation to the group or as a combination of large screen presentation and hands on activities.  This can be a two hour session or a full day with project development included.
