Asian style brushwork is loose and spontaneous.

The rice paper used has bits of plant material.

Scooter & Mollie on the Lawn

Scooter and Mollie, done on rice paper using sumi-e ink and watercolor.

Below: I had a commission to produce small Sumi-e paintings done on shikishi boards for the "Four Gentlemen" or 4 Seasons of flowers. Plum is the symbol of winter and the perpetual continuity and hardiness of life. Chinese Orchid is the symbol of the promise of Spring. Bamboo is the symbol of the Summer and endurance, flexibility and perseverance. Chrysanthemum is the Autumn symbol of the triumphant persistence and fortitude of life.
These paintings can be framed in a traditional mat and frame or with lovely silk Asian frames.
