Moore County, N.C., McDonalds

My name is V. Paul McDonald and I am researching Highland Scots who settled in the Sandhills region of North Carolina in the 18th and 19th centuries. I'm particularly interested in McDonalds who came to what is now Moore County. At right, is a photo of my great-grandfather and great-grandmother John and Irena Rose McDonald taken circa 1910 in Moore County.

I was born in Pinehurst, N.C., in 1936. Today, I live in nearby Southern Pines, N.C. For 25 years, I was an administrator for Sandhills Mental Health Center.

I am the son of Daniel Patterson McDonald and Nannie McKenzie McDonald. My dad ran McDonald and Son Landscaping in Pinehurst for 50-plus years.
