A few words on the dramatis personae:

In May, 1999, I went to Botswana with some friends. My friend Naomi's father, Ken Warren, has been serving as head of security at the American embassy in Gaborone, Botswana, for about a year. Naomi decided to visit her parents for a few weeks and bring some friends with her. In addition to her and myself, the other people going were Callee Brown and Mark Antone Minard, friends from college. Callee, Naomi, and I were leaving from Oakland to meet Antone (a Celtic folklorist who was giving a paper in Boston at the time) in London.
